There are two main types of suspended ceiling, M/F ceilings (metal frame) or Suspended grid and tile ceilings.
M/ F Ceilings
This is a metal frame suspended ceiling, similar to partitions usually a specific board is fixed to this frame to achieve ratings whether it be for acoustics, fire or general purpose.
This system also tends to be used to form bulkheads for both design and practicality, for example to box around miscellaneous services or to form a recess for a curtain rail.
Suspended Ceilings
Grid ceiling tend to be chosen for those jobs with lots of services running which may need to be accessed. This tiled system as pictured is fit for that purpose.
As like partitions and MF ceilings, these grid suspended ceilings also come in various sizes and with different specification to suit the requirements, again these tend to be sound ratings, fire and moisture resistant tiles.
The most common finishes of tile tend to be mineral fire, plasterboard wipeable and metal tiles. These are placed into a grid system designed to suit.
This system is very common in the healthcare sector, education and the retail industry.
